Introducing a New Experience: Our Redesigned Landscape Art Category Pages

Welcome back to the Wisteria Hill Technologies blog! In our latest installment of the art website transformation series, we’re excited to share Episode 7, where we unveil the redesigned Landscape category detail pages. Here’s a closer look at the changes and what’s coming next.

A Closer Look at the Old Design

Before diving into the new design, let’s take a moment to examine the current state of our website’s Landscape category detail pages. Here’s what I observed:

  • Oversized Images: The images were so large that even on standard desktop screens, users couldn’t view the entire artwork or painting without scrolling up and down. This made it challenging for visitors to fully appreciate the artwork in one glance.
  • Small Text: The font size on the pages made the text difficult to read, especially on smaller screens. This issue affected the overall readability of the content.
  • Inconsistent Layouts: The layouts varied significantly across subcategories. Some pages featured gallery or carousel views, allowing for a dynamic presentation of images, while others did not. This inconsistency led to a fragmented user experience, making it harder to engage with the content in a cohesive manner.

Introducing the New Design

In Episode 7, our goal was to create a more cohesive and user-friendly experience. Here’s what’s new:

  1. Unified Layout: We’ve implemented a consistent format across all category detail pages. Each page features a clear introduction to the category, though the introduction section currently includes a placeholder video. We plan to replace this with a unique, category-specific intro video in the near future. The layout also includes a comprehensive gallery of related subcategories.
  2. Improved Navigation: The new design makes it easy to explore different subcategories such as “Inspired by Travel,” “Abstract Watercolor,” and “Digital Art.” Each subcategory page features a dynamic slideshow, allowing users to browse artworks seamlessly.
  3. Interactive Elements: We’ve enhanced the user experience with interactive features. Users can now enlarge images for a closer look, scroll through slideshows smoothly, and close them whenever needed.
  4. Future Enhancements: While we’ve made significant strides, there’s more to come. Our next steps include populating each category with detailed descriptions and a broader collection of artworks to ensure a richer browsing experience.

As we wrap up Episode 7, we’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made. The redesigned Landscape category pages are just the beginning. We’re committed to continuously improving and expanding our art categories to offer you a seamless and immersive experience.
